From 27 to 30 June 2018 the 15th International conference on Cochlear Implants and other Implantable Auditory Technologies was held in Antwerp, Belgium, which is of great interest to specialists in hearing rehabilitation from all over the world.
Traditionally, scientific research and articles submitted by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Ear, Throat, Nose and Speech, which is a member of the
association of the network of international centers for hearing implantation – HEARRING, receive high marks and positive reviews from foreign colleagues.
During the conference, surgical reports were made by Dr. of medical sciences V.E. Kuzovkov, candidates of medical sciences A.S. Lilenko and S.B. Sugarova. Aspects of otoneurology were highlighted by Dr. of medical sciences, professor S.V. Lilenko. At the audiological section the presentations were given by the candidates of medical sciences S.V. Levin and E.A. Levina. I.V. Koroleva shared her experience in brainstem implantation in Russia.
Traditionally at this congress, the BURIAN-HELMS award for outstanding surgical achievements in the field of auditory implantation is presented. This year the award was given to Vladislav Evgenievich Kuzovkov. For 10 years he has carried out more than 5,800 implant surgeries. He operated in 12 countries of the world (Europe, East and Central Asia).
Such high appreciation of the work of the institute’s specialists once again confirms the status of the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Ear, Throat, Nose and Speech as one of the world’s leaders in otosurgery, and also demonstrates to the world community the important role of the achievements of Russian medicine on the global stage.
